AISTAR is a collection of 468 gene clusters where antisense transcript might influence the sense transcript. In all these sense/antisense clusters does it exist two sense isoforms (as a result of alternative initiation, splicing or termination), where the antisense transcript only overlap one of the isoforms. Expression of the antisense transcript might therefore influence which of the two sense transcripts that will be produced either through a transcriptional or a post-transcriptional mechanism. The ASA of AISTAR is based on a comparison of the ASAP splicing annotation database from UCLA(1) and the antisense transcripts data from Compugen Ltd (2); and the ASH of AISTAR is based on the H-invitational full-length cDNA database from JBIRC(3), Japan. Some schematic examples can be found here.

Searching methods and examples:
  • AISTAR ID: Unique identifier in AISTAR (e.g.ASA54)
  • AISTAR class: Class 1 is when the antisense overlaps the splice sites, class 2 overlaps within 200 nt (e.g.1 or 2)
  • Orientation: Sense/antisense orientation: 5./5., 3./3., or internal (e.g.3, 5, or i)
